"Many times what a complaint really is: is an unfulfilled request. Questions we haven't asked, issues we don't confront, and problems we refuse to face come out as complaints." Rhonda Britten

Complaining

Complaints are:

  • A pattern of behaviour that validates your feelings of helplessness.
  • Advertisements of your fears.
  • A way to connect to others.

Complaints let you:

  • Hide your feelings from yourself and others.
  • Focus on the problem instead of the resolution.
  • Give up on possibilities.
How would your life be different if you had no complaints?

Exercise:

What are your complaints?

What satisfaction do you receive by holding on to that complaint?

Which complaints do you want support in solving?

If you could let go of these three complaints what would your life be like?

Congratulations!
You’ve completed Assignment 3.
Way to go!

“Expectations lead to disappoint-ment. That disappointment is frequently expressed as complaints.”

Client Feedback:

I am new in this country. I was living in a verbally abusive situation. I lost myself. I didn't live. Barb supported me to find confidence. Now I know what my choices are and how to live. Barb helped me to open my eyes, my heart and find strength. She gave me the tools to find my way from darkness to light. Now I know myself. I know life. Svetlana

Gratitudes shift your focus so that you are aware of what you have instead of what you don't have. When you make Gratitudes an integral part of your day, you are increasing your ability to see opportunities and possibilities where perhaps none existed before.
